Superflu
first met in 1994, in Lille, northern France. Sonia
and Sébastien joined to play
Nicolas's songs : a few 4 track demos
made at home. After a couple of year playing in local venues, Gauthier,
who had already been the stage sound engineer and been support on his
very own, joined in with his bass. No drums : the songs are mostly held
up with guitars and voices. In 1996, half the band moved to Paris where
Gilles was living. Along with his violin
he gets on Superflu just before the first parisian gigs. Compared with
the previous years, the songs have evolved : slower beats and darkened
lyrics dealing with every day life. The band's project is ready to seduce
the french independant label Le Village Vert. In september 1997 we step
in studio to record the first LP,
released a year later by V2. A 40gig Tour later, we go back in studio.
Recorded in Brussels in February
2000 and mixed in Tucson and Paris by Jim Waters, "Tchin
Tchin" is
released in october 2000, a few after Michaël
joined the
band to play the drums.
